shantel mitchell-cooley, LCSW
I grew up in a small town in southeastern New Mexico where there’s only a few trees but tumbleweeds galore. I moved to Oklahoma for college where I met my husband and we made our way to Chicago for graduate school. I’m a little bit shy but pretty friendly. I love big cities, sports, hiking in beautiful places, reading and spending time with my family. I’d like to be better at gardening, photography and painting but haven’t found the time yet. :)
My professional life started after obtaining my Master’s Degree from The University of Chicago in 2010. Since then my work has been varied with work in nursing homes, hospice, crisis mental health, the Alzheimer’s Association and for the Veteran’s Administration Homeless program. My current therapeutic focus and interest is working with individuals living with chronic and terminal illness, providing caregiver support, and supporting individuals through grief and loss.
